A leaf foraged from The Witches’ Yew Tree in Cork that has been embroidered with the words ‘Are you a witch’. This phrase originates from the children’s rhyme; “Are you a Witch, are you a fairy or are you the wife of Michael Cleary?”. This rhyme refers to the Tipperary woman, Bridget Cleary who was burnt as a Fairy Witch by her family in 1895.

About the Artist

is a visual artist from Kildare who mainly produces work photography, video and handcrafted printmaking. Her practice often explores themes relating to womanhood, the female body and spiritual beliefs. Narrative plays a major role in how she produces and displays work. Her visual narratives are constructed with a particular focus on the tactile nature of the photographic object and are often accompanied by text.  She brings a sense of intimacy to the forefront of the photographic process, emphasising the connection between the camera, the photographer, the subject and its audience.
