Product Description

In Dublin, the enforced closure of pubs and bars due to Covid-19 was soon followed by many taking the decision to board up their windows, suddenly giving a once vibrant landscape a truly apocalyptic feel. Dublin pubs are tourist attractions and community hubs, and to see them fall silent, barricaded away indefinitely, was surreal: there was something distinctly more unsettling about the seeming permanence of boarded-up doors and windows than the simple closing of blinds and locks. As owners covered their windows and doors in March 2020, little did they know that for many of them it would be the beginning of almost two years of constantly evolving rules, strict lockdowns and a genuine fear for the survival of their businesses. When restrictions were finally lifted in 2022, many pubs right across the country never reopened.
