Product Description

Caged is a collection of photography by artist Rachel Naughton. 'Caged' speaks to being at a point in life where you begin to feel trapped in the routine of it all. An observation of these familiarly mundane surroundings; even they have managed to embrace change with every day that passes.

Rachel Naughton is a multidisciplinary artist from Dublin. Naughton studied in the National College of Art and Design, graduating in 2019 with a first class honours in fine art print. Currently a member of Graphic Studio Dublin, A4 Sounds, and The Darkroom.

Naughton explores the intimate yet collective human experiences of the every day. There is an emphasis on the passing of time throughout her work; these temporalities we perceive, frequently contrasted with the infinite sense of time outside our bubble of routine; and a curiosity to understand this interaction.

Her work is often born from personal emotions that come about from existing in this sea of humanity. Themes of monotony, escapism, and the everyday feature in her work as she reflects on her experiences and the state of the world around us. These feelings are commonly framed through a lens of tenderness and appreciation of life, yet a frustration and somberness towards the fleeting nature of it all.
